Many people have tried and failed to lose weight through diets and by taking up intensive exercise. The reason for this is simple – most diets don’t work, at least in the long term. Too much exercise can make you eat more, making you gain even more weight. The formula for weight loss is very simple, yet so many people seem to get it all wrong. All you have to do is burn more calories than you consume, each and every day. I’ll discuss some tips on how to achieve this.
First of all, you need to change the way you view weight loss in general. Don’t go on any extreme diets that leave you feeling hungry and cranky. Don’t stress about your weight too much – this can cause emotional overeating, which will only make things worse. Instead, focus on making small, healthy lifestyle changes every day. Little by little, you should be able to create an effective and fulfilling weight loss plan for yourself.
It doesn’t matter what diet you follow – it’s all about slowly lowering your daily calorie intake and consuming healthier foods. Some popular diets, especially those that cut out entire groups of food, can do you more harm than good. The key to a healthy diet is balance, so look for ways to slowly introduce more vegetables, fruits and low fat foods into your life. Pack an apple or a couple bananas with you to work and skip buying unhealthy snacks. Try to cook your own dinners at home, using only fresh produce. Swap chips or fries for healthy salads. For breakfast, eat lots of whole grain foods filled with fiber – these will provide you with energy for at least half a day.
Avoid developing chronic health conditions by taking daily food supplements. While you can get plenty of vitamin C by eating fruits, some other vitamins, such as vitamins A, B and E, are harder to get through diet. Swap coffee for green tea or use a good food supplement, such as pure green coffee bean extract, to ensure that your body gets plenty of antioxidants every day. Antioxidants and minerals play an important role in healthy weight loss. When the body is fully supplied with minerals and nutrients, blood sugar levels stabilize, making you feel less hungry and helping you cope better under stress.
Introduce regular physical exercise into your daily routine, but don’t overdo it. Start out taking long walks in the morning (before eating) or after work. Get proper walking/running shoes and shorts, and slowly build up to running for 15-30 minutes, 3-4 times per week. Do not “reward” yourself with a snack after exercise.
